i have a fairly basic dell oem no name pos card for a vid card well my card is int he shop. sigh.

it is dvi and i jsut purchased a 27 inch lcd tv that has vga and hdmi as well as everything else inputs..

I purchased a simple dvi>hdmi cable. and when i hooked them up the tv detected a source but said it wasnt readible.

is this drivers issues? when my 7800gt comes back from vga will i be good or can i use it on this current driverless piece of crap?

thanks guys!

Most likely not the cable. A lot of TVs with HDMI have terrible support for computers. They only support one specific signal type. You might get some drivers or find the right setting to exactly match the intended input.

sigh. i didnt wanna have to use a vga cable.

i will fidle but with this video card it seems helpless. im certain the 7800 said it does hdmi support. guess we will see.

don't the nvidia drivers have a 1080i output option? I know the ATI ones do.

you could always get powerstrip and upload a custom output resolution frequency and everything. I think there is a long long thread on avsforums, for that specific purpose.
