I just moved out into my first apartment and I was planning on buying a 36ish inch LCD. However, I think I may want to go with a decent projector. Maybe something around $600-700. If you guys have any experience with these things and can give me your .02 go for it.

Be prepared to work in a very dim room. A projector's contrast ratio hits the floor when there is ambient light.

So having the blinds open in a room would be rediculous with one of these things, correct? I have no experience with them, I'm just looking for a decent, cheap way to get a nice sized looking display. Me and my friends play a lot of splitscreen multiplayer games and with the size of my current TV it makes it pretty challenging.

On the other hand, I'm not really sure if I like the idea that I can't have any kind of lighting going on if I want to be able to see the screen clearly.

Anymore input?

Pro: Cheapest way to get a gigantic screen.

Con: Looks best in light controlled room. Bulbs are expensive (and you think about it every time you turn it on). For your budget, you'll only get 480p.

Great for movies in the dark, not the best choice for casual TV watching in the living room.

Good luck
