Ive finally got out and bought some materials and acquired an old case to make my first attempt to modding and painting a case.
I want to make my first attempt look nice and simple.. my plans are:

- Red gloss paint for exterior
- White interior
- Side window
- 92mm front fan, 2 80mm back (if they fit)
- new on/off and reset switches
- feet

Hopefully by tuesday the coats will be fully dried and ready to wetsand 1500grit.
Then ill do a finally few coats, followed by clear coat at the end of the week.

In between that time, i will be ordering the fans and other parts to complete the project. As well as more planning - prep and planning.

I'm interested to see how this color scheme is going to work out, great work so far.

Bad news Update:

I had went to put the final coats on the first side panel, but ran into some issues. Splatter and drops of rain. Looks like I will be going back to 2nd stage of sanding with 600 grit to get things smooth again.

Also, I will have to wait till next pay check (next friday) to buy more supplies.
- 4 cans of red paint
- 1 white paint
- 2 primer
- Case fans
- vandal switches
- dremel
- Case window
- case feet

As noted supplies above, ive finally decided the rest of the design for this project.

Front:
- Stealthed optical drive
- painted red
- 3.5 bay covers will be bondo-ed together, and then ION will be cut out with dremel to allow a glow effect.
- Vandal switches (ON/off - reset)
- 120mm fan (possible turbine look) with ION grill painted white.

Left side panel:
- Bottom area windowed
- Windowed lettering "ION"
- painted red.

Misc:
- Red LED feet
- White wire management.

This is looking nice, I can't wait to see the finished product!

I agree with some of the others that painting the interior white and the exterior red is a great idea.

That was one of my first cases ever... :D

Cept mine was even older, I didn't even get USB ports on the front of mine...

Ah, that sucks.... Sorry

Can you get a new job easily?

Yeah, i actually got an interview the next day, and been working for 2weeks now. First pay check should be waiting for me when i get home tonight. :D

Buy more supplies soon, and start working on it... especially since now that im working overtime for projects.
