Program to backup laptop?

My dad recently got an external hard drive and he wanted an easy way to back-up all his work onto the drive everyweek.

I was just wondering what is the best software to easily backup the laptop every week or so. I figured Norton has a program but I just wanted to see if anyone knew of anything better.

just get an automated tool that does it over the network automatically without manual backups, I was looking at something that did that the other day, V communications sold it www.v-com.com autosave.

Try using the included backup utility
start->programs->accessories->system tools

You have to play with the options a bit (stop it from appending the files etc.) but you can schedule it and then leave the task in the scheduler and then you just have to right click it in the task scheduler, click run and it goes through and does the entire backup of all the stuff you selected. It works like a charm once you figure out all the advanced options.

Thats not the homepage, but essentially you tell what folder you want to copy it to, and what folder to copy from, and click start. It'll copy everything that has been updated or changed since your last backup. Also, if you always have the program running, you can tell it to back up on a schedule, say every 3 hours or so.
