program that outputs PC stats to a file?

There used be be a program that would show your current CPU speed, fan speed, tempuratures, and it would put it in a file that you could set to update every some often. Now that i have learned a few progging languages, i want to parse the output file and include the stats on a little webpage for my class.

i tried googling and as roon as i throw "parse" or "xml" it throws off the good results.
 
I know that Motherboard Monitor was big for a while but, last I'd heard, the guy writing it stopped development on it. You can pick up the latest release (about a year ago) here.
