Professional Lighting Kit

Ok guys, my company is looking to purchase a professional lighting kit so that we are able to alleviate incorrect lighting and odd colors on the pictures we take of our products (see my sig for link to company website) We want to do this in-house and on the relatively cheap side. Now I know nothing about lighting for photography but I am assuming we need a couple of umbrella lamps atleast to start with as our products are from the very large to the very small. Can anyone give suggestions for something we can purchase that will suit us.

Size of product can range from something that is 4" long by 1/4" wide up to 8ft. tall by 5ft wide. We basically need it more for the probe stations and the large items/products.
 
Check out Alien Bees for affordable strobe packages. Don't have any myself (yet) but plenty of pros swear by them.
 
^^ cool thanks I did a quick look over of their site but did not see any "packages" with a couple stands, lamps and umbrellas but since they are a small company they may just do that via RFQ.... Anyways its somewhere to start....

Any other suggestions... as said before we are looking for a kit with multiple lights, stands, umbrellas.... etc.
