i have an intel p4 2.0ghz
andd im planning on upgrade it to a
Intel p4 2.8Ghz = 29.99
Or
Intel P4 3.0Ghz = 49.99

.... which one is more worth it to get?? oh and is it even worth it for me to buy a new one... or i wont see any performacne difference on games?

but yeaa.. my socket is 478.. so i cant buy that s4rge..can u suggest another one? but i cant pass 40 dollars.

and why get a new motherboard??... and yes im using an AGP video cardd..
im using ATI Radeon x1600..
 
does your motherboard support 800Mhz FSB?

If so then get like a 3.0C or 3.2C. A Pentium 4 @ 3+Ghz with Hyperthreading is good enough for most tasks.

If it only supports 533FSB, then you really only have one option, the 3.06Ghz processor and those run over $40.

The best option would be to get a new CPU, motherboard, ram & videocard.

You could go cheap and still get a MUCH more powerful system than what you have. e2160 (overclocked) + cheap P35/945 mobo + 2Gb ddr2 + cheap PCIe videocard.
 
since you're on a budget, did you try to overclock the cpu first and squeeze some juice out of it?

Don't listen to the others that say buy a new system. I still have a socket 478 with a 3.0c with a ati 9600 non pro and it plays games that are a few years old just fine (Battle field 2, Tiger woods 2006).

If the p4 2.8GHz is a 2.8c? I would just get that. You are not going to notice much of a difference from that one vs the 3.0GHz chip.

And yes its a worth while upgrade for your rig for only $30. You will notice a decent performance increase.
 
CpuMan... can u find me a cheap socket 478 3.0C?? ... thx in advance...
 
and can yall teach me to overclock? oh and i upgraded my cpu to a 2.6GhZ... i stole the CPU from my dad's comp..hehe... hwo do i overclock this?
