Processor stepping help.

What is with the stepping in the processor? C1, D1, whatever.

what is it and how deos it affect performance? thanks.
 
if I'm not mistaken, the stepping is sort of like the revision of the chip, different steppings can be slightly different, and usually later steppings are better for overclocking, etc.

there are sites...I believe it's in the faq, I may be wrong...that can tell you what oc's have been reached with what steppings.
