Processed text mouse-over advertisements? Why?

As small of a thing as it is, having to move the mouse to the side of a frame in order to avoid cursor collisions with mouse-over popup ads is a serious annoyance. Not to mention the confusion this causes with actual links users have posted.

Shame its on these of all forums.
 
The ones here are painless compared to some of the other ones out there.
 
If youre referring to the Atma Links

1) They are orange, so how do you mix them up with other peoples links?
2) If you mouse over them they dont pop up instantly

[H]ard has done an amazing job implementing them without being an annoyance, especially compared to some other forums.
 
You must have missed the shake down cruise where Kyle was taking feedback on the ads, they were fine tuned to be on topic as much as possible and unobtrusive. I think the results speak for themselves.
 
Just as an example, here's a quick recording of me cruising over several atma links. You'll notice that they only pop up when I intentionally pause, and you'll also note that they're for the product underlined. After just a brief pause of moving away from the underline, the add disapears with no clicking being done on my part. I don't think it's possible for text ads to be less obtrusive:
