Hello,
I wanted to put my hdd's in the other way so I could hide my hdd cables.
I got 3 hdd's 2x Maxtor (IDE) and 1x Seagate (SATA).
Looks like this:

And when I put them back windows was pretty slow..
I checked the cables 3-4 times and everything seems fine but I have no idea why it's so slow :(
 
Btw.. The upper hdd is my Maxtor 120GB 7200rpm.. I only got windows on it.
The second hdd is my old Maxtor 80GB 5400rpm and I got only music on it.
The lower one is my Seagate barracuda 200GB 7200rpm and I got Programs & Games on it.
 
Imo the SATA cables and power cables to SATA are real cheap crap. I can't understand how they can sell a thing wich can be broken so easly :mad:
I have taken good care of mine but still they got broken.. Imo the manufacturers should make a stronger cable!

Ive got SATA2 ports on my MB and they don't have thoose clip holes...

But yeah my computer sometimes just decides to stop booting and I will go through the process of reseating all 8 hard drives to get the bastard to boot again...

curously you said your drives are "slow"... I odubt that would be fomr a bad connection. However, it could be form bad cables or your IDE/SATA dirver is fouled... I would do a clean install of the newest chipset drivers if I were you.

On a side note: Yesterday I was also having issues with a couple disk drives in my secondary machine until I noticed the culprit. In the process of pushing in the IDE connector I managed to jam Pin 1 back out of the black plati housing and it broke thsolder point. I used some needle nose pliers to get it back ito place and I am hoping that the wire makes electrical contact with the solder point... Oddly enough, it works without resoldering the contact...
 
Ok.
I sent an e-mail to abit to ask if I could get some new SATA cables coz some of mine are broken.
I like the system they got on the picture I put about the SATA2 better, coz the metal thing keeps the cable fasten and thats good.
I think tho that my hdd's are fine now, but sometimes when i got my comp on I hear a hdd shutting down and restarting. This isn't normal really :(
