I cant seam to O/C past 2100 when ever i do i get video corruption, and the VPU recovery kicks in and then i have to resart.

my specs are

all drivers are currnent, and the mobo bios has been updated.
mobo KV8 Pro (VIA K8T800P-8237)
cpu AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ socket 754
ram 1024 mb pc2700 333fsb

gpu ATI RADEON 9700 PRO

any ideas of what i can change? im just thinking its the ram, since i only paid like 150 (cad) for the 2 512 mb chips.

thanks in advanced for all who reply

got this for ya....

I had the same problem.... its your HT ratio... turn it down from 5 to 4. If you don't see this option then you need to get the updated bios from Abit flash your mb. This should solve your vpu issues

i can't get past 2.1 ghz on my sys either. i've an a64 3000+ newcastle, abit kv8 pro rev 1.1 bios 16 (latest one), one stick 512 mb mushkin blue line pc3200 ram. even with vcore 1.7 and vdimm 2.8, and htt multiplier down to 3x, i can't push fsb past 210 multi 10x while ram is still at ddr400. my ram timings are now 2-3-3-10. if i loosen them should i be able to get higher with my oc? 2.1 ghz with ddr400 performs marginally better than 2.4 ghz with ddr333 (same timings as before; can do 2-3-2-10, but heard 2nd twos numbers should be the same, and bringing the second number prevents post [i'll look more into that, i've some ideas]), so 2.2, 2.3, or even, as on hardocp's review, 2.4 ghz with ddr400 would be fantastic. my psu is an enermax 420w eg425ax-ve bought 3 weeks ago from newegg. gfx card leadtek a400 tdh 6800nu oc'ed to 395/900, tomorrow will try unlocking extra pipes and shader. hsf is zalman cnps 7000a-Cu without fan mate (about 2220 rpm) and arctic silver 5.

any ideas for pushing cpu further?

Video corruption can be an indication of your memory crapping out. Set the Memory to 166MHz in bios (5:6 divider) and it should work just fine. Once you reach 240FSB your ram will be back at DDR400. 10x240 = 2400. Should be just about optimal. If you keep your FSB under 250, you can set your HTT multi to 4x. Anything over and you'll want to set it to 3x.

how come 2.4 ghz with ddr333 performs almost exactly the same as 2.1 ghz with ddr400, then?

Sounds like memory to me as well. My problem with my vpu crashes had to do with HT getting to high. You should try to losen up your memory timmings to see if you can higher. I don't have the same MB but the same chipset. I booted just fine into my AV8 @ 250x10 using 2.5,3,3,8,11 mem timmings on hynix D5's. Try to find a friend that can lend you some ddr 466 or higher to narrow down the issue on your system.

I don't exactly get your question there but It's not running at ddr333 speeds at 2.4GHz. The settings are for 2.0GHz, where 200 memory speed would be the cpu frequency divided by 10, so at 2.4GHz 200 memclock is actually 240 memclock, so at 2.4GHz 166 memclock is actually 200 memclock, meaning it's still running at ddr400 @ 2.4 GHz

Thanks for the help , to every one who replied, i got my cpu O/C'ed to 2.45 and its stable.
only problem is the memory running at about pc2100 accoring to the sandra software.
