Okay i want to format my computer and every way i try it doesnt work ive tried using the cmd prompt and also right clicking on the drive itself and i cant boot from cd cause i dont have it i have this utilities thing and it basically wont work please help

Try using the windows cd that came with your computer. and if you built your computer use the windows cd you purchased (you did purchase one didn't you? :p )
Also you may want to try this thing called the ultimate boot cd. i read about it in a thread somewhere. It has a ton of apps for formating and all sorts of utils. gl.

Better yet go to your drive mfg website and download the boot disk to format.

Maxtor has Maxblast plus
Western Digital has Data Lifeguard tools.

They are both basically the same but they each work great.
