I have a 200gig western digital (8mb cache) as a storage drive. it's probably about half full. i'm getting some problems when i try to download large files to it they just stop downloading.
I thought i would try and defrag it to see of that would help but when i try to defrag i get this message:
"Defragmentation of (X
has been aborted due to inconsistencies that were detected in the filesyetem. Please run CHKDSK or SCANDISK on (X
to repair these inconsistencies, then run disk defragmenter again."
I can defrag my main HD no problem. I've run scandisk and chkdsk in windows and before windows xp starts and i still get the same message. Is there a way to fix this or will i have to format the drive?
