Got a bit of a problem. I'm not sure what sparked it, but for the last hour or so, I've been unable to get into windows. The two things I'm thinking it is are either a virus or something's wrong with the PSU. It boots fine till I get to the login screen. As soon as I log in, it starts to boot windows, but then restarts. Hardware is down below, Windows version is 2k w/SP4.

so you have BIOS access?
check the voltages reported, better than nothing
if they are fluctuating wildly that indicative
the actual values reported are suspect until cross verified by a direct measurement
(unless you have already done that and know what calibration value you need to add or deduct from the SMBus reading)
but if they are really off its probably indicative as well

could be power but doesnt fit the "typical" senerio

I'll do that in a bit. Right now I'm trying to back up my stuff. Safe mode works but when I try to boot into regular windows I get the restart. I ran Norton and the only things it found were some pieces of adware. The PSU's been in use for about 8 months now.

Just looked at BIOS. Vcore fluxed a tiny amount(.02 volts)and 12v jumped between 11.86 and 12.04. Others were stable. Wish i had a DMM.

Was going to reinstall anyway, so this didn't wind up to be much of a big deal. Was, from what I could tell, a driver problem.

Sounds like your Windoze got messed up pretty badly. Best thing to do is use htat drive as a secondary and install XP on a new one, then retrieve your important data from the one with the fragged OS on it. I've had to do that 3 or 4 times.

I already backed up everything I wanted to, and have no intentions of using XP yet. Might have been something from a previous ATI driver or mobo driver.

I'm just gonna stick with 2k, that's all.
Ice, think you can get rid of this thread?
