I assembled my own machine 2 days ago, and i'm having problems enabling USB ports on the front of the case. These ports are USB 2.0 ports.

Here's the specifications.

Case: Aopen ATX
Motherboard: Asus A7V8X-MX
Processor: AMD Athlon 2400+

I also use WinXP Professional with service pack1 installed on it.

There are 2 lots of 1-pin chords that you are supposed to use when you enable USB ports on the front, and these are.

+5V (Red coloured chord)
-Data (White)
+Data (Green)
G (Black)

and the other lot is the same.

If more info is needed i will post more.

Plug those cords into the corresponding motherboard header. Your instruction manual will tell you how. Wiring the case to the motherboard is by far the most tedious process in the building of a new pc.

I had problems when I first built my machine aswell.

Just a tip: the grounding (G) cables do not have a specific hole to go in (aside from the hole having to be ground :p). They can interchange. I hope this makes sense :|

I agree, just make sure the ground go where the G, additionally most newer motherboard print clearly on the board to identify where it goes.

I had the same problem at first too, manual didn't really help me much, but just take a step back and look at the board.
