Problem with sounds being transmitted

Hi all I'm having a problem whereby computer sounds are being transmitted in Skype (in game, browsing etc - not hisses or pops or anything internal). I have gone through all of Skype's settings as well as Windows 7's. I am using onboard sound.

I have an inkling that it might be related to driver issues but was looking for some second opinions. The graphics card is an ATI and is outputting video through HDMI, but speakers are not running through HDMI. When this computer was originally hooked to a TV via HDMI, I was not getting sound through the TV speakers. I've seen on Realtek's website that there is a driver for HDMI audio device but wasn't sure to start messing with drivers because I'm not using HDMI sound now.

Would upgrading to the latest RealTek drivers help and if so, what is the process? Under device manager there is Realtek HD Audio and HD Audio Device among other things. Should I just uninstall the Realtek HD Audio driver before upgrading to the latest one, or all of them?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.
