Problem with formatting harddisk

hello guys am unable to format my hard drive . i have two partions on my hard disk. one is of size 4 gb ( primary partition ) and the other is in extended partition. and there are no logical drives...the extended partition is formatted in some strange format as 6 ......instaed of FAT or NTFS . i dont know who did that . now when i tried to fdisk the hardrive it says that it cannopt delete the extended region. can somebidy help me in this matter.....
