Problem with Firefox & Gmail

I have my http://gmail.google.com in my Firefox bookmarks, which is shown on the left of the browser window, as normal. When I click the gmail link, the gmail site opens up, but it appears in the space where the bookmarks are shown, instead of in the normal window. If I type the URL manually, gmail shows up in the correct place. The other bookmarks open in the right place, but not gmail. Any ideas?

get the gmail notifier extension - really good.

you get a little envelope right in the bottom-right with a number of new post. click on it and it will open in a new tab (if so configured that way)

The extension will be a better solution...really. Try it, and if you don't like it, it's easy enough to uninstall.
