I was having problems with the 5.1 Catalyst drivers....computer was freezing up after a couple minutes of paying a game. Well, I took the card out of my computer, and removed some dust from the fan. It was not a lot, but apparently enough to overheat the card. Now, a couple of questions....

01) I have a Gigabyte X800 XT that has a pretty sweet-looking fan/heatsink. Is this enough, or do you recommend getting a better third-party fan/heatsink? If so, what should I get?

02) My card seems to fluctuate between about 35 C (computer idle) and 53 to 55 (playing game). I am not sure how hot the card gets before it freezes up and the VPU resets. About how hot can the card get before it freezes?
 
The X800 series runs pretty hot. Your temps are fine or below average. I personally use an ATI Silencer 4, it lowered my overall temps considerably. Unless your planning on voltmodding your card to get higher overclocks don't bother getting a third party cooler, your temps are low.
 
Agreed, I remember seeing that cooler, and I think its pretty damn good. Those temps may be a little better than what I'm getting with my Zalman cooler. The card should not lock up until it starts hitting the mid 70c range.
