problem getting my build to boot

i just rebuilt my system with some old parts and some new, i'm having trouble getting it to run. the bios screen comes up and it immediatly freezes, i can't get into the options or anything. the last line says "detecing ide drives..." and it freezes. specs:

athlon xp 2500+
abit nf7-s
512mb crucial pc3200 ddr
80gb special edition western digital
16x48x24x48 combo liteon drive
old 40x cd-rom
floppy drive
sappire radeon 9600np

the bios screen also says i'm running a 1100mhz athlon...what's up with that? anyone know why this won't run? the jumpers on the drives are all correct, i don't know what the problem could be.

Check your motherboards running at the right speed.
Normally if your CPU is detected running slow then the FSB is set at either 133 mhz or 100 mhz not 166 mhz.

Disconnect all the IDE drives.
Can you get into the bios.
If so then start attaching them one at a time and find out what / which drive is causeing the problem.
If you find one drive it does not like try attaching that one first.
Try changeing the cables around.
One thing it could be is an under powered PSU not being able to spin everything up.

What is the wattage on your power supply? Also check your cables to make sure they are in all the way i know that people are like i know i put them in right but just humor me and take them all out and make sure that when you reattach them they are in securely
