theres a restaurant who wanted me to setup a server, their old server was done by some guy who charged them 8 grand.. and put windows xp pro with some TS patch.. shit was so laggy its not even funny..
anyways told him to get his money back, he seemed to have gotten most of it back, and he got a windows 2k3 license (his hardware is pretty old) printers and stuff.. drivers are only supported up to like windows 2000 so i figured 2k8 is going to have a hard time with drivers (windows 2000 server would be best but his program needs 24bit color)
and only thing he basically needs is TS.. hes basically running a glorified rdp server i guess
i got everything setup and it seems to be working great except the printers are windows 2000 drivers, i can't seem to install the XP ones properly (only found 1 driver that would work somewhat)
the printers seem to be printing slowly (2 cash register printers which are epson tm-t88iir's)
his other printers for prep stations are practically brand new so driver support was easy, and they seem to be working fine via tcpip
the 2 cash register printers have a weird install instructions, their using this parrallel to ethernet print server thing, and it says add printer, add new tcp/ip port, change protocol to lpr, change queue name to lpt1.. seems to work again, slowly.
the main problem is everything works fine, but sometimes the printers lose the drivers (just the 2 old cash register ones the t88ii's).. they still queue jobs and everything, but it literally says the driver is missing from the printers and the only way to fix it seems to be deleting all print jobs, deleting printer, and reinstalling printer and the driver..
any ideas?
