Prime95 with HT Stability Testing

I am wondering how I should go about to optimally test my P4 2.8c with prime95. I have been running two instances of prime95 with each set to its own logical processor. When I do this though, the tests run much slower. Does this matter at all? Or is it better to just run one instance?
 
Well it depends on if I run two instances of prime 95 or not. I just want to know what the best way is to test my HT enabled P4.
 
Seems like one or two instances would make no difference, because while there are two logical cpus, its one physical core. However running two instances would be more thorough as far as stability testing goes. Makes no difference if they both run slower, the point of stability testing to make sure the system runs stable, not to get through the tests as quickly as possible.

Yeah I second that. Even though both instances would run considerably slower, due to the HT the pipeline would indeed be more tightly packed (though one instance should pack it pretty tightly regardless) and thus give the cpu a harder workout. But in the end I doubt it matters a whole bunch.
 
running two instances one on the physical core and one on the logical is a better stress test...

running two instances will slow down the test...this isnt a true dual core, this is a virtual 2nd processor...

basically running two instances on a ht enabled p4 will test stable operation with ht enabled...

if you disabled ht in the bios and it passed running one instance then the physical core is stable, but you could enable ht and run two instances and have either the physical or logical core could fail, meaning it is unstable with ht enabled...

so basically run two instances like u have been doing...
