Prime95, BSOD vs Prime Rounding Error

Ever since I went back to a Q6600, I've noticed that Prime no longer fails, I just flat out get a BSOD randomly if it is unstable. It can happen 5 minutes in, or it can happen a few hours in. When I had my E6600, I never remember getting BSODs. I remember prime just returning a rounding error.

So what is going on? One case a failure takes out the entire operating system, where as the other the OS remains up, with a failure in the program. Is this just normal activity for quad core vs dual core testing?
 
I had my i7 920 bluescreen instead of simply failing while running prime95. I don't think it has anything to do with being a quad core or a dual core, it seems to be just a trait of the chip. I had a Q9450 that never bluescreened while overclocking, just produced rounding errors until I reached a stable 3.56Gh overclock. The i7 920 I have right now both bluescreened and produced rounding errors. It's stable now at 3.66Ghz. You just have to play around more with the voltages.
