Prime95 as a stability test

I know that this, among several other programs (memtest, etc), are used to test the stability of a overclock. my question is, what settings should I be running this at?

currently i just load up Prime95 and run the "blend" option in torture test. i also notice that if i loaded up it up at 12:00pm and left it running until 7pm, it won't necessarily say that it has been running for 7 hours, it may say anywhere from 5-6+, is that normal?

i'll be running the blend test tonight, but I hope to read up on your answers in the morning :D! thanks again!
 
I think anything in the high rangs of FFT's just creates more heat and draws more power. More of a power supply stability test, but not a good one imho. Just set it to a decent amount of FFT's (32K and up) and if it runs overnight, you're good to go.
 
Prime95 stability test is probably overkill,

but IF your system can run prime95 overnight your system is perfectly stable.

The time thing may be just b/c the program is using so many CPU cycles for its torture test... its timer doesnt get enough cycles to "count" accurately.
