Why would anyone use this program? I run it and it just goes for hours and hours and nothing really happens. I think the program is gay. Why would anyone even use it?

 It is a very useful tool to test stability. Especially good to check and see if your overclock is going to be stable or not.

For real??? Seems like a dumb way to test stability to me. I just kick it on some kingpin for a few hours and its good. Who cares about prime numbers, thats whack.

it stresses your processor. if it gives an error (you run it for 24 hours usually) then your OC isnt stable and could crash at any time in the future.

Stress is for women. I don't want no errors. Im talkin Kingpin holmes, I don't get no errors with that.

well... VanillaIce... you've sucessfully completed your verification.

And yea, all it does it like look for prime numbers or something. But its the actual process of doing that, is the reason that people use it, especially when you run it in the mode that has the highest heat build up... my system still maxed out at 47C with the stock HSF running at about 1500 RPM.

Thanks for the props on my verification g. But whats this about heat? Oh hell no, I want it Ice Cold!

Using Kingpin for stress testing is subjective, while using Prime95 is objective. Kingpin might rarely or never crash with an OC but that doesn't necessarily mean your PC doesn't have flaws caused by the OC. If Prime95 runs for a set number of hours without any errors, then you have objective proof that it is stable. It is objective because it stresses both the CPU and RAM fully, presses heat to its maximum levels, and uses proven numbers to check for even minute errors. I have yet to play a game that stresses the system as much as Prime95, and quite frankly your system is only as stable as it is in its most weakened (highest stress & temp) state.

But possibly the greatest reason for using Prime95 for stability testing is for when you're trying to discover your maximum overclock with a variety of variables in play. Kingpin might work fine for this, but again it is subjective, so if you make the mistake of thinking a certain setting is stable and then base your next OC step on that fact, you'll end up with a lot more frustration and might never really know what your system can hit.

Man, I would have given you guys more credit than that. Some fool with 10 posts and the name VanillaIce comes here wondering about the validity of Prime95. He then proceeds to do his best showing of Ebonics, wich is pathetic to say the least. You guys buy it like it is a legitimate question.

He is either trying to be funny or just some loser white kid trying to be cool. The irony is, trying to be cool in that manner on a computer enthusiast site makes you even more pathetic. Either way, this is a junk thread that was never meant to be real.

Quit hatin. Thanks for the answers other guys. For real tho, why you come in here on MY post talkin trash about me. Go here and take the test, I predict ISFJ.

My eyes are burning.

Prime95 is your friend. You should run it to see if you can play kingpin stably forever, man. We wouldn't want kingpin crashing on you, now would we?

Uh, how about you go play KingPin then and stop bitching about OTHER peoples' testing methods.

Prime95 is gay, huh? It talks to you and tells you stuff? Well hot damn you're getting more out of it than I am already.

Quit whining.

Kingpin Forever.
I think my question has been answered. Prime don't mean nothin to me, but I see what it's for. Any further posts will probably be by haters.

Word to your mother, yo.

Prime95 is a far more reliable way to test stability than an old, chump-ass video game that only stresses your processor hard on sundays.

Prime95 tests both memory and processor in an extreme fashion, and if you have an error in Prime95 after running it for 24 hours, then your overclock isn't perfectly stable.

And that's the real dizzle, so you better get rizzle in this hizzle.

Word to your mutha snoop. Why you gotta go and dis KP baby..
