Hi guys. The whole time ive been building comps, ive always put the primary hdd as the primary ide channel master, and set the jumpers accordingly. But recently i was told that if the HDD is the only device on the channel, to simply take the jumper out, and use it like that.
I did that onmy HDD, but it recognises it as Primary Slave. with nothing as the primary master.
Is this the desired result? or should the HDD be coming up as Primary Master without any jumpers?
And what difference does it really make?
Another thing that made me think perhaps it was supposed to be slave, was reading some benchmarks and comparisons between SATA and normal ATA, and the tests always involved the Slave drive. So i thougth maybe it was faster, and ive been wrong all this time.
Can someone tell me which is the correct way?
Thanks
