I was thinking about buying a Q6600 and overclocking the snot out of it, but now I'm thinking about going with a lower end processor (e4300, e6300, e6400, something like those?) and OC'ing it to somewhere upwards of 3ghz and waiting for prices to fall on the current quads. When are they expected to drop, and what are the advantages over Nehalm and the 45nm quads over current generation quads? Also, how do the Phenom quads at ~200 hold up to current gen intel quads at ~270
 
I've got an e6420 that was lightly used. I'd part with it for some $190, or if you can toss up a good offer. They retail from the egg at $209. Just checked. $190 shipped. How does that sound?
 
How well did they overclock? I'm not all about the benchmarks but I DO need real world performance.

An e6750 is the same price on newegg

Why is that one so expensive?
