I recently picked up a 3.2E prescott chip and i've gotten it part way with my overclock, and i think i can push it further, but i wanted to check with you guys to see if i've overlooked something.
My specs.
P4 3.2E Stock Heatsink/Fan
Abit IC7 mobo (latest bios)
OCZ PC4000EL gold ram (1 Gig) 2x512
Antec True 430 PSU
I can get this running stable at the following so far
FSB 230
Fsb ratio 1:1
CPU strap : FSB800
Vcore: 1.525
AGP voltage: 1.6
Memory Voltage 2.8
Total speed of 3.76 ghz
Any higher and it will boot up into windows but after running a game for a while, ill hit a BSOD.
My ram should be able to handle up to a fsb of 280 or so with a ratio of 1:1, so i don't think its my ram crapping out. And since its crapping out only after playing games for a while, im guessing its heat, so im thinking of replacing the stock heatsink/fan, that might help a bit.
I've noticed also that using CPU-Z when its overclocked high, that the voltage for the vcore that's being returned is fluctuating, so im also thinking that my PSU isnt giving my chip the power that i've requested in the bios. Could this be the problem also? (i still have to investigate this more)
Any ideas which heatsink/fan i should get? air cooled and money is no problem
or any other ideas what might be holding my system back?
