I was wondering if there were PSUs out there that their wires come all in heatshrink and wrapped neatly, or whatever everyone uses to wrap their wires (other than electrical wire). That would be awesome for a lazy man like me. If there isnt, i bet they would be a big hit.

Thanks

Ah, thats the word, pre-sleeved.

Anyone else know of another place? Thanks for the link

I should go into private business sleeving for people, more customizability that way.

anyways when will the main psu makers joi nthe bandwagon and start sleeving from factory.

Well a lot of them have been sleeving the ATX connector for a while, but AFAIK only PC Power and Cooling sleeves right at factor... oh wait they don't even OEM their own PSUs anyway

Yeah, don't buy the SYSTEMS, but the cases and the PSU's are great, and the work is top-notch, and warrantied as well. :)

The last 5 PSU's on that page are sleeved. But I think the last one is kinda expensive and you wouldn't really need all that power. So the other 4 might be of some interest to you. I have the black TT Butterfly w/ PFC that I got a couple of months ago and I'm very happy with it. I am layzie and I didn't want to sleeve a PSU, plus I don't have time to, so I just went with the TT Butterfly.

It also comes with 2 TT Fan controllers and a case fan/blower.

So check it out and see if you like. Also, NewEgg is extremely realiable.

Oh, and if you wanted to know the difference between the 4 butterfly psu's. 2 of them have active pfc, and the other two doesn't. Also a choice of silver housing and black housing.

Sorry I don't know how to explain PFC, but maybe someone else might know better.

Yes, the thermaltakes are very very nice, i own the 560w myself and all the volts are above spec.. which is great cause computer load drains down volts a bit

Ok, thanks lil layzie, that helps alot. Looks like a winner. I love newegg, bought my whole PC from there.

Oh yeah, how does it sound? I hear those TT fans are loouudd

Whats this PFC your talking about?

Maybe that will help you understand a little about PFC.

I also forgot to mention that if you don't mind the sleeve colors for the TT Butterfly's, then it should be no problem. The molex connectors are somewhat of a green/teal like color, the sata connectors are red/orange, I forgot what the p4 aux connector's color is (too lazy to open up the case. I will check upon your request), and the atx connector is just plain black. Some people might find the colors to be a little funky. But for me, I have no problems with it and the PSU has been solid for me.

If your talking about the PSU fan, you can't hear it or it should be barely audible. I hooked it up to the fan controller that came with it and you can adjust the speed/noise. On it's highest, it's not really that loud IMO. I don't use the blower that came with it because I can't put it anywhere in my case. Although I did try the fan out to hear how it loud it is, and it's pretty loud and annoying, but the PSU makes up for it.

loud??? they are crazy quiet.. quieter than antecs.. ive done tests and thermaltakes are the quietest psus ive heard

Thanks lil, this colors are a little bit funky, but i think i can stand that over having a tons of wires everywhere. Thanks for all the info, I appreciate it

Sweet thanks for the info

I personally will never attempt to sleeve a PSU again... I'll buy a pre-sleeved next time around.

Word...I would buy somethign with a better "name" than that...Something more reputable...

I've used 3 achieves myself, and sold 5 more, and while they're not as "spot-on" as Antec, they're not off by much. Pretty solid budget PSUs, they're what I use when I build a budget system, and I've never had a problem yet. Never more than a little off.

What do you mean by off

No PSU is dead on... no PSU will give exactly 5v for the 5v rail, etc.

I haven't seen the 5v rails off by more than .2, and the 12v by more than .25.

IIRC.

I'd have to reboot to tell for sure.
