ok my pc just started acting up.. and I think my power supply is the culprit.. i added another 512mb of memory and another HDD (that makes 3 HDDs internal, 1 usb 2.0 HD, and Liteon DVD+-R burner) not to mention fans that I am running on my case and fanbus. and i had a few bluescreens and boot problems.. (it would hang) so I unhooked a HDD and it booted fine... makes me think this 2yr old power supply is losing the battle now that I have added the extra hardware.. *my specs are below* anyways.. what power supply do you guys recommend.. trying to find a good deal but get a GOOD power supply..

For that setup I'd go with an Antec TruePower 330 watt, or 430 watt if you plan on upgrading in the near future.

The Antec True Power 430w would be what i'd use. Its pretty well the top in its price range. Rock stable voltages. It also provides True Power so there isn't a combined 3.3v and 5v line. They all have their own line and the maximum output is 410w.

The Antec 430 True Power. Mine is still running great after 2 years.

I recommend Antec as well. I have a 350w SmartBlue Antec running more devices then you have and it's very solid.

I've got a Sparkle 350W that powers my main box...which has 6 drives in it among other things. Antec is another great choice tho.

I would recommend FMI..There suppplies are quite good and very few even know where where there sold..Comp USA and FMI is the maker of there Power Supplies... I would go 400 watt or higher on that rig.

FMI? You say their manufactered by CompUSA? What does CompUSA know about power supplies lol. I would sway away from buying anything but a name brand PSU from a few select makers. There's no reason to buy from others when the name brands aren't that much more. The PSU is the most critical piece of hardware in your machine. Even slight under and over voltages can hurt your system.

Stick with Antec, Fortron, Enermax, Vantec, Thermaltake, Enlight, PC Power and Cooling, Sparkle, or other brands made by the FSP Group.

And his system would run fine off of a 300w PSU. I only use 400w PSU's on high end systems. His system is a mid-range.

If he's planning to upgrade though i would go ahead and get the Antec True Power 430w so you dont have to buy another PSU.

ok who has the best price? newegg? also do they sell a case that has that power supply in it.. save some $ and get both at same time.. maybe.. my case is fine but you know what i mean..

I would buy from Newegg. And yes alot of cases come with PSU's. Antec has the best case/psu combo's. My Antec 1080 SOHO came with an Antec True Power 430w.

Newegg has very competitive prices. Most places I checked had the PSUs around the same price after shipping, it's probably a couple dollars difference, but I trust Newegg more (otherwise I wouldn't have ordered 1000 in parts).

A lot of cases come with PSUs like Burningrave says. The 'high end' cases, like cooler master and most of Lian-Li's however, don't come with one (it's like their freedom of choice for the user mantra).

The Sonata comes with a very good one, the True380, and so does the SOHO file server case Burningrave talked about (True430 in that one).
