Power Supply Rebates

I am looking to purchase a power supply that is around $50-80. I have been looking at ones from OCZ, Corsair and XFX. I have read claims that some manufacturers do not honor their rebates. Which ones are the best/worst at honoring their rebates?

What are the specs of the system you'll be powering? As far as rebates go, I can't comment on that.

I am going to be putting together a pretty budget system.

CPU: Phenom x4 955 - getting this cheap from a friend will upgrade to bulldozer in the future
MB: 880g or 990x series
HD: 1TB SpinPoint F3
Memory: Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600
GFX: HD6870 or GTX460

I am also thinking of getting an SSD if I get find a good deal.

I personally trust antec's line more than corsairs right now. Both my psu's are from antec (HCG 750 and Neo 620). However if I were deciding between those two, I would pick the corsair over the earth just because of the green coloration. Is the eyesore worth the $15 saved for you is the real question imo.

I think i'll go with the corsair because of the color and better warranty.

You're better off with the XFX Core 650 which is internally identical to the TXv2 650, comes with two additional PCIe connectors, has the same warranty and costs less.

Or an Antec HCG 620 from Microcenter @ 50$ after rebate.

It's all a crapshoot. I've never had a problem with OCZ or Corsair rebates. OCZ is rather notorious for not honoring theirs however. Just make sure you read the rebate requirements thoroughly, most of them will not take a packing list for an invoice for example.

I recently bought a MSI mainboard with rebate and I've been unsuccessful thus far in getting them to honor my claim. Buy whatever item/part you plan to but don't count on getting a rebate, the rebate would just be a bonus.

I've had zero problems with OCZ and Corsair rebates (never purchased anything from XFX). Either should be fine as long as you are careful with the rebate process.

Corsair has always delivered rebate checks to me in almost exactly 2 months, and I think they use Parago for processing, one of the best companies (the other is Young America Co.).

Make copies of everything -- receipt, proof of purchase (UPC, maybe also serial number bar code), rebate form (processing companies don't always have the same terms & conditions on file as those printed on the form), even the envelope and ad mentioning the receipt (if you sue, you sue the merchant advertising the rebate). Try to write your info and the rebate number on every item you submit. Attach to them to the rebate form with tape or a bit of glue, never paperclips (jams the envelope machines). I'm not sure if staples are a good idea. Lots of information about rebates can be found here:
