Im building a new pc not for gaming just basic use and wondering what power supply shoud be sufficent.. I see the power supply configurators but their for high end gaming configurations dual video and such.. Im going to go with a C2D E4300 on an asus board P5LD2.. 2 hard drives and two optical drives..EVGA 7300GT 256MB DDR2 and occasional use of an external usb drive enclosure..I looking at an antec case sonatawith a smart power 2.0 450 watts.. Wondering if this case and PSU would be sufficent for my use..or if theres a PSU configurator for basic computing needs and not high end gaming machines.. thanks...

SmartPowers haven't been fairing so well long term. What kind of budget do you have for the powersupply?

would like to keep it around 100 dollars give or take a a lil bit..I have chosen to go with another case that dosent have a power supply now.. I was just looking at the antec case with power cause of the price.. 99 dollars if I remeber correctly..going with a coolermaster centurion 5 case now.. no psu with it...

Thanks

Can't go wrong with the corsair HX520.
It'll be there in case you add stuff to your computer and it can be had for just about $100.

Do you think it will be enough power for the following ??

Intel C2D E4300
Asus P5LD2
Corsair value select 1GB (2 sticks @ 512)
EVGA Geforce 7300 series video
2 x Western digital 160 GB HDD
2 x Optical drives
2 or 3 case fans
Floppy drive

Thanks...

P.S. is there a template or configurator that I can do the math for amount of power neeed of all these items specifically and determine more closely about what wattage is needed for a sytem.. Something I can input the wattage values in manually...Im not using high end parts and some of the PSU configurators just show high setup parts..

Thanks again

I don't know of any configurator, but the 520 can handle your setup without breaking a sweat.
