Ok, I got a "PowerLink" 300W power supply, and randomly the other day it got loud all of a sudden. Normally its noise level is barely hearable, now it's just like woah. I got a suggestion to clean it, so I opened it up and cleaned off the few dusts around the fan, and once again it still happens. Anyone know why? By the way, I didn't install any new hard drives, it just randomly happened. :rolleyes:
 
Probably a fan that's bearings are going bad. When they wear out the blade assembly tends to wobble off center and make noise and vibration.
 
yeah.. ive had a 2 where the fans went bad.. one i replacd.. other i used some wd-40 hehe
 
So it has nothing to do with the power generator or anything related to that right? However, I'm guessing less air means over-heating and meaning KABOOM?!
 
just open up ur powersupply and snip the wires of the old fans, snip the wires of the a few fan (preferably a lighted one) and then twist positive and ground together and wrap with electrical tape or heatshrink, screw in the new fan, and then close the powersupply and you got urself a new fan

just gotta be careful not to make any mistakes and not to electrocute yourself because it would probably hurt
