Greetings,
I recently swapped out my 850TX for a CP-850 for the rig in my signature. The Corsair did not seem to be audible at all, other than perhaps slight fan noise. The new PSU is mostly the same, save one small attribute.
The CP-850 has a faint buzzing sound emanating from it when it is powered. The computer doesn't have to be on, but when the PSU is powered via the switch in back, the noise is audible when listening close to it. When the computer is turned on, either the noise goes away or it is no longer audible due to the quiet fans running.
I do not have the system running on a UPS with AVR at present. I have heard that AVR can help "condition" the power and reduce this sort of buzzing on high quality PSUs. I also have been forced to use a 3 prong to 2 prong electrical plug converter on my surge protector due to the lack of grounded plugs in the complex I'm staying in this summer. When I move back to my normal residence in a couple weeks, I'll be using normal three pronged outlets again.
I have also heard that this buzzing noise actually dissipates with time....as the PSU "breaks in," if you will.
Should I be concerned? Is this a normal problem to have?
