I built my new computer about 2-3 months ago. Specs are as followes

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ (Socket 754)
1 GB (2x512 DDR PC3200) Corsair XMS Series RAM
Radeon 9600XT 128 MB
1 ATA 40 GB Hard Drive
2 SATA 80 GB (160 GB total) RAID 0
Lite-On DL DVD Burner
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Gamer Edition

Had this system running for awhile. Then, I decided to upgrade my video card. Ended up getting the XFX 6800 GT 256 MB. Computer ran good except for 1 thing. In the middle of playing WoW (World of Warcraft) my computer shuts itself off. I am able to power back on my system and had no problems the rest of the day. However, yesterday I come home, and play WoW for about an hour (maybe less) and my computer shuts off again, but this time I hear a "pop" type noise which scared me shitless. I took it to a friend today and we opened up the power supply to find a blown fuse. I had read on other forums that the 6800 GT requires 20A at least to run good, so I was looking at this other power supply to purchase. I was wondering what you guys think. Heres the link:

Amperage ratings are good, reviews ares good, I guess I just want a 2nd opinion. I dont think anything in my mobo is fried, but I haven't tested anything either. I don't there anything is since the fuse in the PSU was blown. I was wondering what you guys think.

P.S. Oh and also, a few days before I got my new video card (still running the 9600XT) my computer shut off after playing WoW for an hour or so.
 
NO on the Coolmax it like the POwmax are junk. What is your budget?
 
I'd rather not spend over 100 bucks on a PSU just because I don't really have the funds at the moment. Just curious, why are coolmax crap?
 
Seeing how you're willing to spend $71 on a Coolmax PSU, you can spend $69 and get the tried-and-true Antec TruePower II 430W. That Coolmax you linked to doesn't comply with the new ATX12V v2.0 spec, something which the Antec does. It'll have more upgrading headroom for later on, for when you change up to a Socket 939 setup, for example. The TruePower II 480W is more money, but you get more headroom there too. All TP2s come with the tighter 3% load regulation, which is a good thing.

They are just poorly made by companies with poor pedigrees and posses unknown derating curves. Why spend money on a unknown when you can get a known good supply for the same price. Also look at the Xclio lines and Fortron.
 
Well, I'm just looking for something that can run the current system I have. I won't be able to upgrade this for a long while since I'm a college student and funds are obviously very limited for the time being. Btw, my mobo is a Giga-byte K8NS Pro.

I found this XCLIO Power Supply. Sorry, don't know much about PSU's. I know about amperage values and all that, but the new technologies that are implemented in these are the things I don't know about.

They're all the same price (not counting the mail-in rebate since it'll take awhile to get here). So I was just wondering which one would be the best buy for my system in your all's opinion. I'm really leaning toward the Antec one, but I wanna know what you guys think.
 
Well I would drop the Xclio because you have an opportunity to get a higher spec unit(Enermax) for the same price or a similiar spec (with modular cables) for less in the NeoPower. In your situation I go cheaper. But that is me.
 
Well guys, I think I'm going to go with the Enermax Power Supply. I like the higher wattage and amp ratings on it plus its within my budget. I want to thank you all for your inputs and helpful information.

Oh, I almost forgot. I've never used one of these dual rail PSU's before. What would be the best setup. For example, which rail should I plug my components into to insure the best performance?

THe PSU does all the work, just hook it up like normal. Basically the 4pin 12v has a dedicated 12v while the rest of the system runs off the other 12v rail. You don't do anything.

That sounds great, just one more question though. I noticed on this Enermax that it needed have any specs for -3.3 and -5V. Is there a reason for this? Again, sorry, I don't know much about these things.

The -5v line has been eliminated from the ATX12v2.0 standard. Chekc but I doubt your board or system will require this line.

Well I didn't come up with this question until after I ordered it so I hope my board doesn't require it.
