First off let me apologize if I am in the wrong forum section, but did not see a heading for this.

I am interested in what everyone is using for protecting their computer equipment. Or is there some website that actually tests surge protectors for their use? So far I have been researching and most websites just cite the specs and that higher is better in some categories and lower is better in others. But the real performance test is actually "surging" these protectors to see what they can handle. So any information that can be supplied, would be really appreciated.

Currently I do not have a whole house protector, but will be getting one in the year coming, but for now I want to protect my new computer Christmas equipment.

Thank you
Steve

computer and monitors connected to:
Belkin Conserve Smart power strip/surge suppressor --> APC UPS --> PowerVAR line conditioner --> outlet
the name brand stuff should have some sort of warranty/insurance agreement

These are awesome, and they even have little dual-outlet units for $20. I have one of those that protects my printer & WAP. I use an Isobar for our home theater setup as well, and all the "extras" on my desk that don't need battery power. Isobars are really good stuff, and they also have line filters for interference (one per outlet pair), that will theoretically clean up image/audio.

Regular plain Jane power strip. Nothing fancy. If something gets fried there is a 99.9% chance the manufacturer warranty will cover it anyway.

Thanks everyone. Just looking around, the pricing varies greatly from one to the other compared to the specs.
