I recently bought a GTX260 from Newegg for about $200 and I figure in a couple weeks to a month, I can buy another video card should I need/want it. (i.e. another GTX260 for SLI). My PSU is a 700W Silverstone Strider unit, and it has served me pretty well. In my computer I have a Core i7 920 overclocked to 3.2GHz (it was a lot higher until I got some more DIMMs, then I had to lower my overclock, but honestly in everyday use I don't notice the difference much).
Would my power supply be able to handle it? It is SLI certified, and has enough leads for 4 6-pin PCI-e connectors, which I believe would be spread across different rails, however I would need to open up my case and look to be sure.
Also my video card is overclocked, per the specs in my sig.
Thanks. I don't know much about SLI and I hear horror stories about how you apparently need at least 1KW before you should consider SLI with these cards, but I am not so sure I believe that.
