Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I was just currious what kind of money it costs to have a computer running 24/7 these days in terms of power consumption, and how much more (in money ) does it consume (per hour) while in games?
It'll cost $87 per year, per 100 watts used at a cost of .10 per KWh to keep it running 24/7.
If your entire system consumes 500 watts when gaming, it'd cost roughly 4 cents per hour at .10 per KWh.
I calculated what it'd cost to keep my gaming machine with a XP 2800+, Radeon 9800, 2x 512 MB PC3200, 2x 7200 RPM drives with a 21" CRT monitor running 24/7, the entire setup consumes 180 watts when idle, and the local electric rate is .075 cents per KWh, and it's about $125 per year. If I was gaming 24/7 on it, it'd cost around $300 a year.
If you are really interested in cost the guys in DC have worked it out pretty accurately. Although off the top of my head the above seems close depending on draw.
