Hey,

I currently have a nVidia 7900GTX video card running with my AMD 4000+(oc'd to 2.7)..would it be worth springing $70 to upgrade to an ATI 4850...or would my CPU hold me too back that I wouldn't even notice a difference?

Specs:
Antec 550w PSU
2GB RAM
AMD 4000+ CPU
 
What resolution?
Short answer: Yes you will see a difference and yes you will bottleneck the card.
 
1920 x 1080 resolution monitor ideally.

I can use a lower resolution monitor too..
 
A X2 4000+ at 2.7ghz wont limit you THAT much...

A 4850 is literally a whole new world...DX10...maxing out most (if not all) settings in 99% of games games (that 1% being Crysis :p)...I mean, yeah, if you have the $70 to spend I say go for it...7900GTX? lol...
