Possible to see the contents of a website?

Do any of you know of a way to see the contents of a site when the root doesn't have any information? For instance a link is posted to www.anysite.com/pic1.jpg - and that picture is posted, but going to anysite.com comes up with an under construction page. Also, going to www.anysite.com/a/a.jpb comes up with a picture, and going back to www.anysite.com/a/ gives the contents of that directory, but going to the parent goes back to the under construction page.

So, is there any way to see the contents of the site (other than guessing possible names)?

Not really, as index listing is more often than not disabled.
