Not sure if this would suffice as a "SFF" post, but regardless the following I found to be quite nice for either a SAN/NAS box or general File Server setup

I've been eyeballing the case for some time and will most likely try to get it here in the next month or so for home use. And awaiting a quote on the motherboard, but will probably go with another Mini ITX board if the price is too high.

You probably read about my setup on the other thread, but I have a few thoughts about the motherboard to ponder.

I chose a motherboard that takes mobile CPUs because I was hoping they would consume less power and be cooler, however I am not sure if this is the case.

If you are looking for cheaper, I gave this board serious consideration. It has 4x SATA ports, PCIe attached gigabit LAN and a PCIe expansion slot for add in cards. The board is not much cheaper than the Intel ones, but you don't need to get a CPU. Be warned, though, that there seem to be some issues with the LAN chipset and Linux/BSD distros. This is the reason I went with Intel. (plus I got a good deal on it)

Another thing to consider with that case is that clearance is really tight between the DVD drive and the motherboard. On my motherboard, the power plug goes in under the DVD drive, which sucks. I made it fit, but it is a bit awkward. the VIA board above as well as this Intel one have the power plug on the side.(this will end up at the bottom of the case when assembled) As a bonus, the Intel board has the memory off to the side as well, so you wouldn't have a clearance issue with that as well. (see my thread in the disk storage forum for pictures of the clearance concerns)

If I think of more things, I will let you know.
 
A s775 board with PCIe sounds really awesome to use, but consider that this case isn't designed for cooling or high performance; you'll need to stick with a low profile cooler, then all the potential performance benefits go out the window. I used the Albatron KI690-am2 board, which costs as much as the VIA board that ilikecake pointed to. There are probably plenty of other VIA itx boards that are a lot cheaper I think though.
