I bhad a problem with my computer shutting off under heavy load for awhile...it would just shut off so I thought my PSU was ucked someway even though the rails were well within the range according to software

so I heard on these forums that a comp being plugged into a power strip could cause this so I plugged it straight into the wall

it still shutoff, just took longer

so my power problem persisted even after I unplugged it from the power strip although it took much more for it to shut off

so i got a new fortron 530W

haha...as soon as it posts it auto shuts itself off

now Ive unplugged things one by one to just the bare min and it still shuts off

and unplugging things for the enermax 350W didnt help either

so Im thinking there's something funky with the electrical system in my house!

so my option now is to find out how to dual PSU and hope that works

if not wtf? could it be the electrical in this house if its really old?

since the Fortron 530 draws prolly 700+watts at startup(efficiency) I thought this might be way its shutting down quicker than the enermax 350W

any suggestions?

my rig isn't even although psu intensive which is another reason I think its not the psu

I have a 2500+
512MB OCZ ram
Gf4 overclocked
Tornado
fan controller
2 hard drives
2 optical drives
usb mouse
sound card

the 2500 used to be overclocked 10X220 but since I had to turn the volts higher to get that overclock it shut itself off even faster!

any suggestions help lpease?

Get a UPS with AVR (auto voltage regulation) pronto! And seriously dont waste another minute. Ask others for recommendations on which to buy since there are great ones and "ok" ones.

Have you tried moving your rig over to another outlet? theres a decent chance that may fix it. As an experiment, try not to plug other devices into the same wall socket either.

If you keep running your rig this way you stand a decent chance of ruining your psu and other sensitive hardware eg; memory, video, hd's.

report back with your findings for more possible advice.

Well I have tried different outlets and even the upstairs since the house is a two flat and the two floors run on seperate electrical boxes

is there any way this could possibly be a non-psu problem?

what are some good UPS and recommendation since the only electronics store out here within an hour drive is WalFuckinMart and there's no way in hell I'm trusting their employees.

Im going to try and completely reinstall everthing by the book tonight and see what happens. I'l report back for new findings.

alright I reinstalled everything and it works....at stock

if I try overclocking and thus increasing the voltages it hits into windows and then powers down

since I have a 530W PSU what kind of UPS would I be looking for? A 700W?

Further testing indicates that raising the Vcore too high permits faster shutdown.

However, the Forton is very unfriendly with my NF7 board

I put the NF7 Vcore to 1.875....it reads in Abit EQ as 1.80-1

so I tried 1.95 so it'll get around my 1.875 I was getting with my enermax

bam shutdown

ok i try 1.9

bam shutdown

i dropped it back to 1.875 so far so good although I havent fully stressed it

I dont know why all this just started happening but its pissin me off

I'm stuck at 11x200 with a damn unlocked 2500+...what a waste

and I dont know if that UPS will help, although I'd be willing to try if i could return it if it doesnt work

but the culprit seems to be vcore

and my temps from abit EQ are fine...I'm running a Sp94 with AS3 with a 92mm Tornado
