A friend of mine is looking for a portable word processor and doesn't want to spend more than 300 dollars on it. Most laptops I've seen are cheapest around 600 ish dollars. Any suggestions, she only needs it for word processing.

Are the Dell Axims (PDA thingy) able to do simple word processing? I saw the 300mhz one for 199 dollars and was wondering if it will do what my friend wants?

Thanks again!

Dell axims have had some issues with software/stability, I'd make sure they've been resolved if you're looking there.

I bought a compaq 22xx PDA and it's been very good for me, I use it with an external keyboard pretty regularly. There's also a 'lighter' version of the same that is more affordable, but I think even mine would fit your budget.

Maybe not including the keyboard though.

But there might be other options outside of PDA's :).
