I'm not sure if this the right place for this discussion, wasn't sure where to put it.

My parents asked for this device for Christmas. They usually come to me with the computer questions but this is the first I ever head of the SafePlug.

I know they are interested in being anonymous on the internet. Is this a good device for that?
 
Sure it'll work but remember it'll always come back to your connection if they (whoever you're trying to fool) really want to track you down. It might take some time versus a direct connection but it'll come back to you eventually.
