PNY 6800GT OC problem ;/

Just picked up a PNY after having a BFGtech -- wanted to see if the PNY could get OC'd harder than my BFG. Dissapointing results thus far and I was wondering if theres something wrong with the card or drivers etc.

When I do the autodetect with coolbits, it sets my speeds at 380 and 1.05 (BFG was setting it at 424 and 1.15). Any reason the PNY card is so much lower in autodetect? Also, when I try and manually put my settings for a 400+ clock and 1.05+ it fails when I test changes.

I'm assuming that the BFG and the PNY are the exact same boards, so why am I getting these low results? TIA.

dont trust auto detect. it detects my watercooled PNY GT @365/1040 when it runs stable at 450/1200

No GPU or CPU overclocks the same.
People have gotten so used to O.C. that they think it's normal, and they forget O.C. is taken the hardware OVER it's normal specs, and that there are no assurences og any succes...

Terra - Tired of people complaning about "low" O.C.'s....

Most people have "stable" overclocks...but run like 30 repeats (not loops) of 3DMark2001SE Nature test at 1280x1024 with 4x AA and high quality in the control panel....watch the artifacts appear. My ATI is "stable" at 560/585 in games...but to pass that torture test it will only do 540/580...
 :D

If it can do that and the 3DM03 Troll's Lair the same, with no artifacts, it's stable and a good overclock.

ran 3dmark05 looped for 12 hours straight. then tried RTHDRIBL for 5 hours straight. no artifacts, no damage, good overclock

I have a 500W PSU so I don't think thats a problem.

I actually got the card to run stable at 408/1.12 but I'm trying to get a little bit more out of my core settings. Anything over 408 and it fails the test in coolbits so I'm kinda stuck there. I guess its good enough, thanks for the replies guys.

my pny is set at 400/1100 and my temps never go above 53 on load this is with stock fan too...

never above 53 on load? lol wut have u been playing starcraft? hehe
