Do you own a Plextor drive? Know something about them? Post your comments here. I hear a lot of talk about Samsung being the best drives out there, but are they really? Do people really care about benchmarks when the top drives all perform about the same? Real world performance - you will not tell the difference.

Reliable? Fail? Performance? Price?

Ive got some plexor drives that I used as datastores for a whitebox. I am not impressed with their performance. Obviously better then a spindle though.
 
I have a 128GB Plextor PX-128M5S. Bought it a year ago. There were some firmware revisions (nothing critical) IIRC but I decided to stay on the first update. Applying the update was straightforward, the file was easy to find and worked flawlessly (bootable cd).
Currently SMART shows 1373 GB written (it's my boot/games/swap/software drive) after 2168 hours. All other SMART data is in the green.
Overall I've experienced the biggest speed gains while applying Windows Updates :)D), booting up and loading software. Games loaded noticeably faster as well.
Bugs/problems - funny quiet whistling during sweeps over directories with many small files.

Below is a bench I've just performed - but beware - my drive is actually capped at SATA II (no 6 gbps ports).
