I purchased a 'red' cold cathode awhile ago, put it in my case. To my chagrin, the light it emitted was more pink than red. It disgusted me. Now, it pretty much sits in my case, turned off. I'd like to have an actually red cathode, but I don't want to purchase a new tube. Some suggestions people gave me: lightly spray paint the tube red, wrap the tube in red saran/plastic wrap. Any thoughts? Different suggestions? I would appreciate anything.

Sell it to a girl modder? might be able to get alot being one of the only pink CC fans

Just wrap it in a layer of red cellophane, easy as pie. Use a couple of elstic bands on either end to hold it on..... and voila! Or some glue on the end, be creative

Or if blood is a little too messy for you.... you can use red plastic wrap.

I bought the red Coolermaster cathodes. Nice dark red sample on the front of the box. Turn it on.... pink. Pretty lame if you ask me. I was pissed off at first. The only good thing is that my side window is blue, so when I turn on the lame pink cathodes it looks purple though the window, which I actually like. So I guess it worked out ok, except that you can see pink through the fan holes. :(

So at least I can use it this way.

Thanks for all the good ideas...(well, I think blood would be a little grotesque).

/sigh. Another pink CCFL post.

Maybe you could contribute something positive to the thread, like a suggestion on how he could solve his problem? Or a place that sells truly red CCFLs?

Xonik. I DID contribute. You don't see the difference between the 2 sets of cathodes in the first 3 pics?

I would suggest doing a search here for "red cathodes" and browse through the first 50 or so posts on the sunject.

ya, i had a pink cathode and used a red sharpie (really big one) to color over it all and it worked really good. it is permanent so it goes strait on and requires nothing to hold it on....

See, I think the point the original guy was trying to make is that the CCFL we ordered says "red", the box shows a nice "red" example color, you look at supposed sample pics and they show a nice deep red, and then you order it and turn it on and it's pink. Then you're like "WTF is this?" It's not something you would think to look into further until you realize they screwed you over. That's probably why there are so many "pink CCFL posts", because it's an ongoing problem. He was just asking for suggestions on how best to modify his.

You could just tell us where you got your super cool red cathodes or what you did to modify them instead of showing us apparently dumb we are. (By the way, yours do look good and was the color I thought mine were going to be, juding from the box and Coolermasters own freaking website)

And I'm not the original poster, I'm just making an observation.

Exactly. Thank you.
