I was wondering what is so special about all the pumps I see on Water-Cooling sights (So special that they cost upwards of 100 bux) and I though "Can't I just use one of the dozens of cheapsih pumps available at local petsmarts?"

So I ask you, suld I just use one of the petsmart pumps? what is a good GPH'?

Is 296 GPH going to be enough (IF all Im cooling is my CPU?)

Thanks

They usually sell pondmaster pumps at petsmart, these are great for watercooling. If they have the 350gph version, get that one. I wouldnt go for a cheapy one though. If you want a good pump for $40, get over to reefgeek.com and get the danner(pondmaster, supreme) mag 3 pump.

Hey thanks, thats great Now know I wont have to spend obsene amounts on something I can get for much cheaper (I build aquariums for people who dont have the time/knowledge to do so) So I can get good pumps for cheap, or free (I know I have a couple lying around here somewhere...)

petsmart also sells Maxi-Jet pumps i would look at getting a Mexi-Jet MP1200 its rated for almost 300gph. i have heard good things about them.

I myself have a Via Aqua 1300 and it has been working good for almost 6 months

What kind of fittings would I need for one of these pumps?Say If the tubing I'm using is 3/8"

Also, does it matter WHERE the pump is in a circuit?(Befor radiator, after, inbetween Radiator and resevoir?)

Thanks

The location of the pump technically does not matter at all. The location of any of the components for that matter doesn't matter at all.

You simply want to set up your system so that you get the cleanest routing of tubing (less tubing and less tight turns = better). You also want to position the pump so that priming it when you first get it going will not be a problem.
