I've decided to watercool my system and I hear everyone say that its best to build your own w/c setup, and not buy kits. So could someone more experienced with watercooling help me put together the nicest sysem for $250? This has to fit in a Antec P160 and on a s754. or would i just be better off buying a kit such as Corsair?

Whats the ideal tubing size?

Thanks!

ps sorry if repost... i searched a little

Are we cooling CPU and GPU here or just CPU? I'm going to assume both, but you can always take away a GPU block.

CPU block: Swiftech mcw6002-64 ($40)
Pump: Aquaextreme 50Z ($75)
Radiator: Single Heatercore ($20) if you want preformance.
..............Black Ice Pro ($40) if you want silence.
Fans: Anything with a CFM/DBA radtio that suits your needs.
Tubing: ~10ft Clearflex60 (~15) or Tygon R-3603 (~25). Both are 1/2" ID, 3/4" OD
GPU block: Maze4 ($45), or Swiftech MCW50 ($40), or Silverprop Fusion HL (~$55)
Accessories: T-Line ($1), Hose Clamps ($5), Distilled water + antifreeze ($10)

That should be everything, should come out to less than $250 if including GPU block. You want a single 120mm radiator because thats all youre going to be able to fit inside the case. I would take out the front HDD bays and put it there, infront of that fan slot. Heatercores will give better preformance with high CFM, high pressure fans, but Black Ice Pros will give better preformance with low CFM low pressure fans, so pick whichever you want. For a GPU block, I highly suggest the Fusion HL, as it is all copper/brass, which means there is no aluminum in your loop, which means no corrosion. They are all good though, if you even want a GPU block in the first place.

Alright, thanks man!

Wheres a good place to get all of this?

Edit: Are you guys in favor of reservoirs?

resevoirs are nice, they make filling and bleeding the system a lot easier, make sure you dont get an acrylic resevoir (or do so at your own risk). They are notorious for leaking at the seams. I would suggest one of the new polyethylene resevoirs that have been rebranded to hell by all the US watercooling manufacturers. (although for those you might have to watch for leaks at the barbs)

Okay, is there any one good store to get all of this? I havnt found a reall good site yet...

I'm also venturing in this WCing thing and here's what I just ordered:

Swiftech MCW6002 - water block
Swiftech MPC650 - pump
Swiftech MCW50 - GPU water block for my X800 XT PE
Swiftech MCRES-525 - water res
Black Ice Extreme (120mm version) - radiator
15' of Tygon 1/2 ID hose (ordered extra just in case)
1 bottle of HydrX UV coolant (mainly to prevent algea build up)

-everything came right at $300 delivered. I hope I made a wise choice.

I would like to see how you go about getting the cooling in your case. I am also going to be water cooling in my P160 but I am lacking parts right now. I just found out I will not have my Swiftech MCW6002-64 for another friggin 2 weeks. I am also still waiting on my '77 Bonneville HC. Did you plan on making a worklog?

I can't seem to find the 6002 any where in stock. Where is a place that actually has them (has to be U.S.)?

Thanks for the tip. No AMD 64 versions in stock, but I have a 775 processor, so that doesn't matter.

Ive seen a couple water cooled P160s, there was a recent post on ocforums.com. Heres the link:

You can buy direct from swiftech. It would make sense that if anyone was actively stocking them, the factory store would be. Just a thought.

I saw some cases where they are cheaper then online stores. I chose to order mine from a store and now I am waiting 3-10 days till they get it so I can wait another 3-5 for delivery. On the upside I saved 7 bucks over the factory direct price.(ack)
