i just built a computer with a DFI nForce2, AthlonXP 1800+, 512mb micron pc2700, sapphire 9800 pro 128 w/cat 4.2s.

i am getting really bad performance in games like ravenshield where i get 15-20 fps in most parts of the game :(

any ideas???

p.s. it also runs about the same if i oc the cpu to 166 fsb (1.9Ghz)

Well, what resolution and eye candy do you have turned on? Also, the game is a bit CPU bound, though I'd Imagine 1024x768 4xFSAA 8xAF with max details, you shouldn't hit below 30fps.

The CPU and RAM are whats getting you.

Get some faster RAM, and a faster CPU.

i have the resolution at 640x480 w/ noAA noAF and i have everything high in the game graphics options except animated geometry (the cpu killer)

this doesnt make sense...and my cpu/ram arent too slow if i have them clocked at 166 fsb, that is faster than barton 2500+ and pc 3200 ddr.... especially not so slow as to get 15-20 fps constant on a game whos min reqirement is 600 mhz cpu :(

has anyone seen a problem like this before??

also i am running this on my tv using the s-video out on the radeon, could that be a problem???

I really dont think it would make any difference.

yea thats ur problem right there...
just run it on your normal moniter.
